This religious congregation was founded at Memramcook, New Brunswick on May 31^st, 1880. The founders were Father Camille Lefebvre, a religious of the Holy Cross and Reverend Mother Marie-Léonie also a religious of the Holy Cross but from Notre-Dame, Indiana.

This Institute is placed under the patronage of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and of Joseph.

The purpose of the Institute is to provide service to the clergy by prayer and manual work in apostolic delegations, bishops’ residences, seminaries, colleges and other communities of priests. These admirable souls follow the motto: “Pity and Devotion.”

It was in September 1944, five Sisters of the Holy Family arrived at the Collège to graciously relieve the Canonesses Regular of the Five Wounds of their domestic services. Five sisters founded this new house\: Sisters Alexine Gagnon, Clara Toupin, Jeanne Boivin, Mélina Gilbert and Ida Couturier.

Without respite, these hardworking Sisters would always be found in either the the kitchen or the laundry room from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. .

In the month of July 1949, four more Sisters of the Holy Family were invited to relieve the Little Missionaries of St. Joseph of their responsibilities towards the Bishop’s residence and soon after of the presbytery. These Sisters were Marie Gallant, Blanche Bélanger, Alice Trépanier and Thérèse Turenne.

In 1976, the Oblate Fathers resigned from the direction of the Collège as did the Sisters resign from their domestic responsibilities but they continued on in the upkeep of the Bishop’s residence until 1980. These devoted Sisters were exemplary models in our community.
