This religious community was founded in 1925 at St. Joseph College in Otterburne, Manitoba. They believe in the extension of the devotion to St. Joseph through prayer, manual work and apostolic activity. The Sisters accepted to direct hospitals, orphanages, schools for the deaf mute as well as provide domestic service in religious houses.

On December 1^st, 1944, the Institute graciously sent a few Sisters to upkeep the Bishop’s residence in Gravelbourg. These Little Missionaries were later relieved by the Sisters of the Holy Family in 1949.
